Job Title: Senior Auto Claims Adjuster

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Duration: 6 Months

Pay Rate: $37/HR (W2 Only)

Job/Role Description:

  • Manage complex Auto Claims from initial investigation through resolution, maintaining independent ownership of an assigned claims inventory.
  • Investigate and evaluate Auto Claims involving coverage disputes, disputed liability, comparative negligence, physical damage, total loss, and multi-vehicle accidents.
  • Independently investigate and determine auto liability by reviewing police reports, statements, photographs, scene evidence, vehicle damage, and other relevant information.
  • Investigate insurance coverage issues by reviewing policy language, endorsements, documentation, and other information needed to make well-supported coverage decisions.
  • Evaluate and negotiate first-party and third-party auto physical damage claims within established settlement authority.
  • Handle repair-related claim decisions and settlements, including coordination with appraisers, repair facilities, and other technical resources.
  • Proactively manage an active Auto Claims inventory by prioritizing work, completing follow-ups, maintaining diary activities, documenting decisions, issuing payments, and moving claims toward timely resolution.
  • Communicate liability, coverage, settlement, and other claim decisions to insureds and claimants, including difficult or unfavorable decisions.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate claim documentation supporting investigation findings, coverage decisions, liability determinations, settlements, and claim resolution.
  • Utilize claims management and investigation resources, including Guidewire ClaimCenter and related tools, to document and advance claims.
  • Collaborate with managers, appraisers, technical resources, and business partners to resolve complex claim issues.
  • Provide proactive communication and clear expectations to insureds and claimants throughout the claims process.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe-response operations as required, which may include designated on-call dates and occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work.
  • Travel or deploy with limited notice during designated catastrophe events based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of recent, hands-on Auto Claims adjusting experience.
  • Experience independently managing an assigned Auto Claims inventory from investigation through resolution.
  • Hands-on experience investigating and determining auto liability.
  • Experience handling disputed liability and comparative negligence claims.
  • Experience conducting insurance coverage investigations and making or supporting coverage decisions.
  • Experience handling auto physical damage claims, including repair-related claim decisions and settlements.
  • Experience evaluating and negotiating first-party and third-party physical damage claims.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate claims, make claim decisions, document findings, communicate decisions, and drive claims toward resolution.
  • Experience managing an active claims inventory/caseload while maintaining timely follow-up and accurate documentation.
  • Strong investigation, decision-making, negotiation, organization, and claims documentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience communicating difficult or unfavorable claim decisions.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain required insurance adjuster licensing within 90 days and three attempts.
  • Ability to successfully complete the initial on-site training period in Phoenix, AZ and work a hybrid schedule following training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of recent Auto Claims adjusting experience.
  • Total loss experience, including vehicle valuation and settlement negotiation.
  • Experience handling complex coverage investigations and disputed liability claims.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or serving as a technical resource to other claims professionals.
  • Active insurance adjuster license and/or licenses in multiple states.
  • Experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter.
  • Bachelor's degree.
