This role focuses on the application development and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) side of IT, requiring strong project planning, execution, documentation, budget management, and stakeholder coordination skills.

The successful candidate will manage cross-functional teams of IT professionals, contractors, vendors, and business partners to deliver projects within established scope, schedule, budget, and performance expectations. This position requires hands-on project management, experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and the ability to maintain detailed project documentation and provide accurate status reporting.

Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations is preferred. Candidates with electric utility industry experience are also highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple IT projects simultaneously, typically overseeing 3–5 active projects depending on size and complexity.

  • Lead project teams in defining scope, developing schedules, obtaining cost estimates, and assigning resources to project activities.

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project plans, milestones, schedules, budgets, and delivery expectations.

  • Facilitate project meetings, prepare meeting minutes and transcripts, document decisions, and track action items.

  • Maintain project progress reports, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies), and other project documentation.

  • Track project budgets, estimates, labor costs, resource allocation, and schedule performance.

  • Lead and coordinate internal IT teams, contractors, vendors, and business stakeholders to drive project completion.

  • Apply Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies as appropriate to project requirements.

  • Drive effective use of SDLC processes and support application development and infrastructure-related projects.

  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate vendor deliverables, timelines, and project dependencies.

  • Gather, document, and communicate schedule, budget, resource, and performance estimates.

  • Identify project risks and issues, coordinate mitigation plans, and escalate concerns to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project status, technical information, and delivery risks to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.

  • Ensure project information, decisions, and supporting documentation are accurately maintained in the project repository.

  • Apply established project management standards, best practices, and internal project governance processes.

  • Monitor project execution against established scope, schedule, cost, and performance goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management experience, including hands-on management of IT projects.

  • PMP certification required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; education will be independently verified.

  • Strong background in information technology, particularly application development and SDLC-related projects.

  • Experience managing projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

  • Experience managing IT vendors, contractors, and cross-functional project teams.

  • Strong project planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.

  • Experience tracking budgets, cost estimates, resource allocations, labor, milestones, and project progress.

  • Strong documentation skills, including meeting minutes, project schedules, status reports, RAID logs, and project plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks and issues.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, or comparable platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing SAP projects or other ERP implementations.

  • Experience in the electric utility, energy, or related infrastructure industry.

  • Experience with application development and IT infrastructure projects.

  • Familiarity with project governance, project repositories, and standardized project management playbooks.

  • Experience coordinating complex vendor deliverables and resource-dependent project schedules.

Project Management Tools

The team works extensively with Azure DevOps (ADO) and Smartsheet. Experience with Microsoft Project, Jira, or comparable project management tools is also acceptable.
