Contract Administrator I/II
Work Schedule: Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

Position Overview
We are seeking a Contract Administrator I/II to support the development, negotiation, award, and commercial management of complex contracts. This position will support contracting activities related to electric and natural gas infrastructure, technology solutions, professional services, engineering, construction, and major equipment purchases.
This role is heavily focused on pre-award contract administration and negotiation, including developing contracts from initial scope through final execution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience drafting agreements, developing commercial terms, managing competitive sourcing events, negotiating terms and conditions, reviewing vendor redlines, and coordinating contract awards.
Technology contracting experience is required, including experience with agreements such as software, SaaS/hosted services, licensing, and related technology services.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and draft contracts from initial scope through final execution, including agreements requiring development beyond standard templates.

Translate business requirements, scopes of work, pricing, deliverables, and commercial requirements into complete contract documents.

Conduct pre-procurement planning and determine appropriate contracting and sourcing strategies.

Develop and manage competitive RFP/RFQ and bidding activities, including solicitations, vendor communications, bid evaluations, and commercial analysis.

Draft and negotiate contract terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, schedules, deliverables, warranties, indemnification, insurance, liability, and other commercial provisions.

Review and negotiate vendor redlines, exceptions, and proposed contractual changes through final agreement.

Partner with Procurement/Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, project teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to resolve contractual and commercial issues.

Assist project teams with the development and review of scopes of work and technical specifications.

Prepare award recommendations and coordinate final contract execution.

Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure alignment between POs, contracts, scopes of work, pricing, and negotiated terms.

Support contracts for professional consulting services, software and SaaS solutions, license agreements, NDAs, architect and engineering services, construction services, and major engineered equipment.

Evaluate contractual and commercial risks and advise project stakeholders accordingly.

Maintain strong supplier and contractor relationships.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. Degree will be independently verified.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience for Contract Administrator I.

Minimum 4 years of direct relevant experience for Contract Administrator II.

Hands-on experience with pre-award contract development and administration.

Demonstrated experience drafting contracts and developing commercial terms.

Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions and managing vendor redlines.

Experience with RFPs, RFQs, competitive bidding, sourcing, bid evaluation, and contract award.

Experience developing or reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs).

Experience preparing and issuing purchase orders.

Technology contracts experience, including software, SaaS/hosted services, licensing, or related technology agreements.

Understanding of the source-to-contract/procure-to-contract lifecycle.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities with a high degree of accuracy.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Qualifications for Contract Administrator II

Working knowledge of construction and general contract law.

Strong independent contract drafting and negotiation experience.

Experience with contract delivery methods such as Design-Build, EPC, Engineering/Design, Construction, and Design/Furnish agreements.

Knowledge of contract structures including lump sum, unit price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, and cost-plus-incentive-fee arrangements.

Ability to independently lead commercial bid evaluations, negotiations, award recommendations, and contract execution.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in SAP or another ERP environment.

Experience with contract management software and electronic signature tools.

Experience supporting engineering, construction, utilities, energy, or infrastructure organizations.
Important Candidate Profile
This position requires true contract drafting and pre-award ownership. Candidates should have direct experience developing agreements, negotiating commercial terms, managing redlines, conducting RFP/RFQ activities, developing SOWs, evaluating bids, negotiating with vendors, and supporting contracts through award and execution.
Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on post-award contract tracking, renewals, compliance monitoring, invoice administration, or maintenance of already-executed agreements may not have the pre-award contracting depth required for this position.
